Arthritis

This class incorporates head-to-toe stretching and strengthening exercises to preserve and restore flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination.  This class is $25.00 per month on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the St. Luke's Warren Health & Wellness Center.

This class is lead by a certified Arthritis Foundation leader which incorporates head-to-toe stretching and strengthening exercises to preserve and restore flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination.  This class is $25.00 per month on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the St. Luke's Warren Health & Wellness Center.

Atrial Fibrillation in the 21st Century

FREE.  Atrial Fibrillation, or A-fib, is a common but upsetting cardiac condition where the heart beats fast and irregularly.  It is caused when the electrical impulses that control your heartbeat become "disorganized."  Although not dangerous in itself, A-fib can increase your risk of stroke.  Cardiologist Darren Traub, DO, will help you understand the causes and treatments for this distressing condition.  A light supper will be served.

Babysitting Training Course

Bone Health

This program is designed to help women maintain healthy bones.  Information from the National Osteoporosis Foundation will be presented to help you avoid osteoporosis through exercise, daily calcium intake and diet.  We will also discuss DEXA scan (bone density scanning) and what you should know about this simple test.

If you have already been diagnosed with osteoporosis or osteopenia, this program will help you manage your life and decrease your risk of fracture.

Childhood Obesity Epidemic

FREE. Living with Alzheimer's: For People with Alzheimer's

The Alzheimer's Association is expanding our porgram and services.  "Living with Alzheimer's:  For People with Alzheimer's" is a three part education series designed specifically for individuals inthe early stages of Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia.

This program focuses on what individuals with the disease need to know, plan, and do in order to live the best life possible with Alzheimer's disease.  Groups meet once a week for three weeks.  Topics include understanding Alzheimer's disease and memory loss, daily strategies and safety issues, partnering with your medical team, coping with changes and making decisions, and more.

Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD)

PVD is a condition of the blood vessels that is caused by hardening of the arteries that supply the legs and feet.  When this happens, the muscles of your legs must work harder and harder to get the blood and oxygen they need to work properly.

Sports Medicine for Young Athletes

Please join us for an informational-packed session about common hazards facing many school-age athletes.  Nicholas Avallone, MD, an orthopedic surgeon Board-certified in sports medicine, will talk about the best ways to avoid and treat injury and concussion.  Lawrence Bauer, MHSA, LCRP, a pulmonary technologist will talk about playing sports with this debilitating condition that is seen in youngsters of all ages.  Athletes with asthma-like symptoms will be given vouchers for a free pulmonary function test to determine the severity of the condition.  Kathy Decker, Registered Dietitian, will give you tips for maximizing performance and energy before, during and after athletic performances.  Athletes 13-18 years old will receive vouchers for a free body-fat analysis on our new GE Lunar Densitomitry dexascan.

Zumba

ZUMBA is a branch of Zumba dancing.  Both males and females are welcome.  This unique form of dancing provides not only the heart-healthy benefits of an aerobic exercise, but also the social aspect of interacting with others.  In addition, it releases endorphins in the brain, which bring about positive happy feelings.
