The program lasts one year and consists of monthly didactic experiences with extensive simulation and expert instruction, as well as individual mentoring provided by a nurse preceptor. Residents will also complete an evidence-based research project. Nurses who apply for a specific RN position at St. Luke’s and have less than six months of experience as a nurse will automatically be included in the Nurse Residency Program.

The Customer CARE Assessment is a pre-screening tool to determine if candidates are the best match for the Mission, Vision and Values of our organization. Only those candidates who score well on the assessment will be eligible for available positions.

St. Luke’s University Health Network screens Pennsylvania-based new hires for nicotine as part of the pre-employment physical process: Nicotine will be part of the ten-panel urine drug screen. Non-Pennsylvania-based new hires will be screened using a nine-panel urine drug screen, which does not include nicotine. Please see the Frequently Asked Questions about Nicotine screening.

St. Luke’s University Health Network requires all employees, physicians, volunteers & students to be immunized annually for influenza, to protect the health and safety of patients, employees, patient and employee family members, and the community as a whole from influenza infection through annual influenza vaccination. New hires will be offered the influenza vaccination during the pre-hire physical during the recognized flu season. New hires who have already received the influenza vaccination will be required to submit proof of vaccination within thirty days of employment. This is a mandatory program with the exception of documented medical or religious reasons for not receiving the vaccine.
