Community Health Programs/Initiatives

The Department of Community Health and Preventive Medicine operates across all seven St. Luke’s University Health Network campuses using a network wide approach developed as a result of the Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNA). Initial programs within the department were developed through the Bethlehem Partnership for a Healthy Community in collaboration with community partners. Since we have grown as a network, the Bethlehem Partnership for a Healthy Community is now focused on the Adopt a School initiatives for the Bethlehem Campus, however the collaborative model was used for program development across the network. The Bethlehem Partnership for a Healthy Community was developed as a result of Mr. Richard Anderson’s compelling vision for community health improvement.

The network and campus specific five health priorities determined by the Community health Needs Assessment for the 2016-2019 cycle include:
  • Improving Access to Care and Reducing Health Disparities
  • Promoting Healthy Lifestyles and Preventing Chronic Disease
  • Improving Mental/Behavioral Health
  • Improving Child Health
  • Improving Elder Health
