The Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center can help patients with wounds caused by diabetes, burns, injuries or radiation therapy. Often these patients develop wounds that do not heal as they should. The Center provides advanced care and special techniques for wounds caused by:

  • Pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Neuropathic and ischemic ulcers
  • Venous insufficiency
  • Non-healing, traumatic and surgical wounds
  • Vasculitis
  • Burns
  • Late effects of radiation
  • Peristomal skin irritations and other problems

Treating Wounds

We use a variety of methods to heal stubborn chronic and acute wounds including the application of special dressings, human skin equivalents and vacuum assisted closure therapy. Our location at St. Luke's Warren Campus gives you easy access to vascular studies, nuclear medicine, diabetes education, radiology and lab work that may also be necessary to treat your wound.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

The Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center offers two state-of-the-art, pressurized chambers where patients can breathe in pure oxygen gas to increase the amount of oxygen in the tissues and promote fast healing.

During treatment, patients lie in comfortable chambers and are monitored at all times by a trained technician. A physician remains on site to monitor patients before and after each treatment.

Working with Your Doctor

Initial assessments and plans of care are developed for every patient and will be sent to your physician. While you are being treated at the Center, your physician receives regular progress reports as well as a discharge note when your treatment is complete.

A referral from your doctor is not required for treatment at the Wound Healing Center, but our staff always works in consultation with your physician when possible.

Our Staff

Our staff includes eight board-certified physicians, surgeons and podiatrists along with nurses and technicians, all highly trained in wound care and/or hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
